Wow! This is NICE! If you've never heard (of) 97a yet... get down from your metal buzz and catch some brutally fast hardcore, courtesy of New Jersey's old-school/power-violence saviors. It's hard to describe their sound really, cause it's not as tight as other New Jersey old-school bands (Floorpunch and Ensign come to mind), rather it's very loose and sometimes dissonnant, not unlike Chicago's Charles Bronson (the high-pitched vocals come to mind!). In any case, "Society's Running On Empty" is a GREAT follow-up to their classic "Abandonned Future" CD released by Teamwork a couple of years ago. Get a load of the artsy cover!
